What is Respite Care?
Respite care is a short-term care solution designed to provide temporary relief for primary caregivers, allowing them to take a break while ensuring their loved ones continue to receive the care and attention they need. It offers a safe and supportive environment for residents, with all the necessary services and personal care provided, including assistance with daily activities, medication management, and social engagement. Respite care can be a great option for caregivers who need rest or time to manage other responsibilities while knowing their loved one is in capable hands.
At Vacenti Aged Care, we offer compassionate respite care that is tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual. Our team of healthcare professionals works closely with families to create a care plan that ensures comfort, safety, and well-being during their stay. Whether it’s for a few days or a longer period, our respite care services offer peace of mind to both residents and their families, knowing that the highest standards of care are always maintained.

Vacenti offers a Respite care option should carers need to take a break.
Regular breaks are essential for carers to maintain their own health and well-being. Taking time for self-care ensures they can continue to provide the best support for their loved ones. Respite care offers a valuable opportunity for carers to step back, knowing their family member is receiving professional care in a safe, comfortable environment.
Residential respite care can also be a helpful option for individuals transitioning from a hospital stay before returning home or moving into permanent aged care. It provides a temporary, supportive setting while allowing both the individual and their carers to adjust. Additionally, some carers use respite care as a way to explore residential aged care at Vacenti or to assist their loved ones in transitioning to permanent residency with us.

How to apply for residential respite care.
To apply for residential respite care, you must first obtain approval from the Australian Government through an ACAT (Aged Care Assessment Team) assessment, or ACAS for those in Victoria. The government grants up to 63 days of respite care per person per financial year, which can be taken throughout the year as needed. This approval is an essential step in the application process.
Once you have received approval, please contact our client relations team at (07) 2102 7058 or fill out the form below, and we will assist you every step of the way. Our team will discuss your specific needs and circumstances, and we encourage you to visit our home for a tour. This gives you the opportunity to familiarise yourself with our facility and meet our dedicated team, ensuring you feel confident and comfortable with your decision.

I am not sure what residential respite fees are?
Residential respite care is subject to a Basic Daily Care Fee, which is charged to residents for the duration of their stay. This fee is set by the Australian Government and is reviewed twice a year. The fee helps cover essential care and services provided during the respite period.
